Anyway fast forward 2 decades and food science has advanced enough that they can make a diet cola that tastes a lot like coke.

What other people describe as the off or stale flavor of diet coke is what i enjoy most about the drink. Diet coke was originally sweetened with saccharine but it currently uses aspartame as its artificial sweetener. When coke zero came out there were better artificial sweeteners available allowing it to taste much more like coca cola.

I haven t been able to find coke zero in cans in weeks. I try to stay away from bottles mostly because of the environment but also because the 2 liters go flat. The experiment was such. The only diet pop i really like is coke zero and diet root beer.

Coke zero is terrible if you like the taste of diet coke but better if you wish your diet coke was regular coke. So coke zero is based on the coca cola formula while diet coke is an original formula made specifically for the diet coke brand. Diet coke still uses that flavor profile because many people like it. Yeah that didn t work out so well.

All they say is that diet soda is frequently consumed by unhealthy people. Edit to respond directly to the article posted. That s right new coke non diet diet coke. Honestly its amazing how i used to even tolerate regular coke or other full sugar drinks before i cut them out 7 years ago.

Obviously overweight people are more likely to drink diet soda instead of the full flavor stuff.
